Types of U.S.A. Visas

It is important that investors or other business visitors to the Unites States understand some important business customs and practices in the United States.  Furthermore they have to understand certain visa classifications, legal system and taxes for the purpose of their business transactions.

Non-Immigrant Visa Classifications:

There are three common types of business related visas available to the business persons:
                B-1 & B-2:  Business Visitors & Tourists who wish to visit U.S. temporarily can apply for this type.  This visa does not allow alien to work, but allows to come U.S. for meetings, conferences and those training for a foreign corporation.  Length of stay may be granted up to 6 months and may be extended by applying to INS.
                E-1 & E-2: treaty Traders and treaty Investors and their spouse and children.  A sophisticated visa created for developing trade between the U.S. and foreign countries with which U.S. has a treaty.  These visas are good for 4 years; sometimes used as an alternative to permanent residence by supervisors, executives, and those with special skills or a corporation.
                L-1:  Intra-Companies Transferees, for managers, executives or persons with specialized knowledge.  Much supporting documentation required by INS.  No labor certification required.  Applicant must be employed by foreign firm for 1 year and wants to come to U.S. to work for affiliate of foreign company.

Temporary worker of distinguished merit and ability.

Temporary agricultural worker.

  • J-1:                   
Exchange Visitor.

  • A-1, A-2, A-3:
Diplomatic Visas, Ambassador, public minister, consular office and immediate family; other government officials and family; personal employees of “A” Visa holder.

    Transit Aliens.

    Crew of planes or ships.
    • G-1, 2, 3, 4, G-5:

    Employees of International Organizations; Representatives of foreign government to international organization; representatives of governments not recognized by U.S. employees of above representatives.

    Aliens of Extra Ordinary Ability.

    Athletes & Entertainers of internationally recognized level of performance.
    • P-2:   
    Artists & Entertainers perform under culturally unique program.
    • R:       
    Religious Workers.

    CANADIAN IMMIGRATION AND VISA
